20 July 2025, SHANK, by Matt Hooper: The 153rd Open has come to its conclusion on the Antrim coast at Royal Portrush, now the countdown is on to 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The 40th edition of Alfred Dunhill-sponsored golf at the home of golf. This year's championship comes the week following the Ryder Cup in New York, so it may be that the emphasis in 2025 will be on the heritage of this special event and its special sponsor.
Alfred Dunhill is the longest-running sponsor of a tournament in golf outside the United States, and for the last 40 years this event has been a staple of our autumn on the East Coast of Scotland.
This incredible week of golf has seen almost every great golfer in the world over the last five decades (excepting Scheffler) play at some point. It all began with Greg Norman leading Australia to victory in the 1985 Alfred Dunhill Cup, and last year saw Tyrrell Hatton claim the Links Championship for a third time.
SHANK's coverage of the 40th edition of Alfred Dunhill golf in St Andrews will begin on 4 August, 8 weeks before championship week. There will be an unrivalled variety of content building up to championship week, telling the story of the last 40 years and looking ahead to this special week.
Keep an eye out for details of coverage coming soon.
